When is a 10-day motorway vignette worthwhile?
The 10-day vignette is suitable for a multi-day stay in Slovakia, a short holiday or a trip involving repeated use of Slovak motorways and expressways. One vignette can cover both the outbound and return journey if both take place within its validity period. There is no limit on the number of journeys on roads requiring a vignette during this period, so you can also use it for multiple trips, visits to different parts of Slovakia or route changes during your stay.
How long is the 10-day vignette valid?
The validity of the motorway vignette begins on the selected calendar day, regardless of the time of purchase, and ends at 23:59 on the tenth day of validity. For example, if you purchase the vignette at 10:00 on 1 July and select the same day as the validity start date, it will be valid from the moment of registration until 23:59 on 10 July. The validity start date can be set up to 60 days in advance. Therefore, if you purchase the vignette in advance with validity starting on 15 July, it will remain valid until the end of 24 July.
When should you choose a 30-day vignette instead of a 10-day one?
Before purchasing, compare the length of your planned stay with the vignette’s validity period. For example, if you select 1 July as the validity start date and return on 11 July, the 10-day motorway vignette will no longer cover your return journey. You would then need a new motorway vignette to continue travelling on roads where a vignette is required. For a longer stay, it may therefore be more practical to choose the 30-day option from the outset.
